Brugmansia sanguinea
The rare red angel's trumpet, Brugmansia sanguinea, is one of the most distinctive species with red and yellow trumpets.

The rare red angel’s trumpet, Brugmansia sanguinea, is one of the most distinctive and striking species of the genus. It has trumpet-shaped flowers that are smaller than the hybrids and about 10 inches long. They are yellow at the base and on the sides and bright red on the lower half of the trumpets. This high elevation species blooms best in cool temperatures in spring and fall and may not bloom at all in summer. In its native habitat it is pollinated by sword-billed hummingbirds, one of the largest species, with bills more than four inches long. Grow in a pot or in a garden bed near the patio. Bring inside as a houseplant in winter or throw it in a dark basement to “hibernate”.
