Anemone blanda ‘Pink Star’

Anemone blanda 'Pink Star' has glowing lavender-pink flowers with white centres.

Anemone blanda, the Grecian windflower or Balkan anemone, is a charming woodland groundcover that produces cute little two inch wide flowers in early spring above nicely dissected foliage. It is similar to A. nemorosa but the leaves are thicker and darker green, the flowers are larger and have more petals, and it can be grown in full sun if the soil has good moisture. ‘Pink Star’ has glowing lavender-pink flowers with white centres. Plant them around dark flowered hellebores or other bulbs to help show them off against the dark soil or as an ephemeral groundcover beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. They will go dormant in summer.
