Anemone blanda ‘Blue Star’

Anemone blanda 'Blue Star' is a Grecian windflower with bright blue flowers.

Anemone blanda, the Grecian windflower or Balkan anemone, is a charming woodland groundcover that produces cute little 2+ inch wide flowers in early spring above nicely dissected foliage. It is similar to A. nemorosa but the leaves are thicker and darker green, the flowers are larger and have more petals, and it can be grown in full sun if the soil has good moisture. ‘Blue Star’ has bright blue flowers. Plant them around dark flowered hellebores or other bulbs to help show them off against the dark soil or as an ephemeral groundcover beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. They will go dormant in summer.
