Andropogon gerardii ‘Holy Smoke’ is a big bluestem grass that forms tall, upright arching foliage up to 30 inches tall. Initially grey-green, the foliage turns green in the summer then matures to purplish-pinkish-reds in late summer to early fall when tall and erect flower stems rise to 6 feet tall with golden-brown inflorescenses. Offers a spectacular early fall vignette. Plant in the sunny garden en mass or as a specimen. Use also as cut dried flowers. Drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant.
