Andropogon gerardii ‘Blackhawks’

Andropogon 'Blackhawks' is a big, bold grass with deep purple leaf tips and burgundy red inflorescences in mid summer all becoming purple black in fall.

Big bluestem is a long-lived grass that forms a tall, strictly upright clump of deep green foliage. Andropogon gerardii ‘Blackhawks’ will develop deep purple leaf tips by mid to late summer at the time when upright, burgundy red inflorescences emerge. As the season progresses the entire plant will turn to purple black for a stunning late season display.
