Bottlebrush buckeye, Aesculus parviflora, is a large suckering shrub topped with dramatic summer spires up to 12 inches high of tubular white flowers with red anthers and pink filaments. The subtropical-looking palmate leaves each have 5-7 leaflets and turn yellow in autumn. Tolerant wet soils and shade, even deep shade, and still flowers. If you have the space, this is a spectacular addition to the summer garden. Usually grows to 10 feet tall and wide, sometimes larger. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. For the 2024 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 15cm pots and about 1-2 feet tall.
