Acer palmatum ‘Sango Kaku’

Acer palmatum ‘Sango Kaku’ is the famous coral bark Japanese maple with fall, winter, and spring bark in shades of coral red and salmon.

The claim to fame of the coral bark Japanese maple is its winter bark which gradually darkens in fall with the onset of cold weather to coral red and salmon and gradually lightens in summer to greens. However, Acer palmatum ‘Sango Kaku’ has other lovely features including a classic arching vase shape and leaves in a range of different colours through the seasons: lime green in spring, green with canary-yellow hues in summer, and golden yellow in fall with red highlights. Grow in full sun for best winter bark colour. For the 2025 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 1g pots and about a whip about 1-2 feet tall.
