New, Notable and Luscious Plants at
the Phoenix Candy Store
Trillium luteum and grandiflorum
-- Just in, some fabulous one gallon pots of trilliums.
Trillium luteum has burgundy mottled leaves with bright
yellow flowers. T. grandiflorum is the species from
Ontario with white flowers that fade to pink. Trilliums
are excellent in a shade garden or a woodland setting
where they provide colour and a touch of sophistication.
They're one of my favourite groups.

Ligularia 'Britt Marie Crawford' -- If
you already know and love Ligularia Othello
heres an even better plant. Britt-Marie
Crawford is a low growing Ligularia to 30
with the deepest burgundy/black leaves and orange daisy-like
flowers. New this year, this plant is living up to the
hype -- the leaves are rich chocolate black and look
stunning. This is an exciting perennial destined to
become an essential gardening plant.
Cardiocrinum giganteum -- Giant Himalayan
Lily -- Thick stems to 6-10 hold large, white,
intensely fragrant trumpets with burgundy throats that
will be the centrepiece of your shade garden and the
inspiration for a hastily arranged garden party! This
lily takes 7 years to bloom from seed and then dies,
leaving behind bulblets that will bloom in 2-3 years.
Until flowering they resemble a large hosta with shiny,
heart-shaped leaves. Plant a few bulbs each year to
establish your colony. 3 year old bulbs.

That's five foot seven inch me standing with the lilies
which hit 10-11 feet last year!
Meconopsis -- Himalyan Blue Poppy -- One
of the holy grails of the botanical world, the Himalayan
Blue Poppy. Count yourself lucky to live in one of the
few places in the world with a suitable climate for
growing these fabulous plants. We have grandis, x sheldonii,
'Lingholm' and napaulensis. The plants of grandis, which
is the species that tends to be much more perennial,
are in 1 gallon pots and are just setting buds!

Alliums -- Ornamental Onions -- Do you have
alliums in your garden yet? We have a wide selection
of alliums available in one gallon pots including 'Globemaster',
'Purple Sensation', 'Mount Everest', 'Gladiator', christophii,
shubertii, 'Ivory Queen' and more. The ornamental onions
provide smashing interest and structure to your garden
with their spherical drumstick heads of tiny white or
purple flowers.
