The Hellebore Hurrah!
Hello
from Phoenix Perennials!
As I've said before: Friends don't let friends miss the Hellebore Hurrah! Since I'm quite fond of all of you, my fellow gardeners, here is your reminder. Also, you're going to need something to get you through the post-Olympic blues. So lift up your spirits and celebrate our favourite harbinger of spring. And don't miss our free Hellebore workshops on Friday and Saturday!
We have been setting up for the Hurrah! over these past few weeks, we have been preparing the hellebores that we have grown ourselves and we have been receiving shipments from multiple sources including plants direct from top breeder Marietta O'Byrne. The 2010 Hellebore Hurrah! is going to be one fantastic mind-blowing weekend. I'm so proud of the collection we've brought together and I hope you'll come down and see it. For a few sneak peaks of the Hurrah!, you can check out our new Facebook Fan Page.
New Facebook Fan Page Follow new plants, events and happenings in real time with regularly posted images and notes from the nursery.
Rare Bulb Sale: Our packaged dry bulbs as well as those from Japan will be available at the Hurrah! Our bulbs from India will be arriving the week after the Hurrah! There will be lots of Arisaema, uncommon dahlias, lilies, Zephyranthes, Pleione, Acidanthera, Babiana, Ismene, Dichelostemma and much more! Once the Indian bulbs arrive we'll have more Arisaema plus Cardiocrinum, Cautleya, Clivia, Crinum, Hedychium, Haemanthus, Tacca and much more.
See you soon!
Cheers,
Gary and the Phoenicians
Celebrate that Big Sporting Event that's Coming to Town
and Cheer on Our Athletes with Helleborus Vancouver Medallion
This beautiful hellebore has attractive evergreen foliage and flowers opening creamy white, darkening through yellow-green with a pink blush and then to rich chocolate. Squint your eyes and Vancouver Medallion looks like gold, silver and bronze medals! Originally given the name ‘Candy Love’ by Belgian breeder Het Wilgenbroek, this cultivar was rechristened by the Garden Club of Vancouver and Valleybrook Gardens with the name Vancouver Medallion in honour of the 2010 Winter Olympics. It has been mass planted at the top of Taylor Way in West Vancouver, at Prospect Point in Stanley Park and by gardeners all over Greater Vancouver to welcome visitors to our city and to show them how amazing gardening can be on the West Coast. Imagine! Flowers blooming at the Winter Olympics!
Special February Open Hours
Starting on Thursday February 4th we will be open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm for you to pick up your Vancouver Medallions. We will remain closed on the Weekends, however, until the Hellebore Hurrah! Opening Weekend.

Forms of Payment at the Nursery
We are happy to accept VISA, Mastercard, debit, cheque (with ID) and cash.
Some customers ask us which form of payment we prefer. Due to the increasing merchant fees associated with credit cards, payment by cash, cheque and debit is better for the nursery.
